My name is Sohei Breaux-Fujita – I’m a HOPES therapist and a doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Psychology Program in Couple and Family Therapy at Alliant International University. I am studying the experience of gay men in same-sex relationships caring for a partner who is HIV positive. I would deeply appreciate your help in completing my survey.
Who can participate in the study? If you are a male-identifying homosexual individual who is over the age of 21 currently in a committed same-sex relationship for longer than 6 months who provides some caregiving to a partner who is living with HIV/AIDS.
What will happen in the study? You will participate in a semi-structured interview to share your experience of being in a relationship with and providing care to your partner living with HIV. Participation is completely voluntary and you may stop the interview at any time. You may also skip any questions that you would not like to answer. If you volunteer, you will answer questions about your experience of caring for your HIV-positive partner and how it affects you and your relationship.
You may find some questions difficult to answer. Again, you may skip any questions that upset you without penalty. You may also choose to end the interview and leave the study at any time.
If you participate in the study, you will receive a $10 gift card for Starbucks and you will contribute to a greater understanding of how to help gay men like yourself who provide care for their partners living with HIV. Some participants may learn about themselves by answering these questions too.
Interested in participating or have questions? Call or email Sohei Breaux-Fujita at (702) 900-7473 and [email protected] if you would like to join the study or have questions.
